In Gage Park, Relief And Continuing Sadness After Murder Charges Filed

(CBS) – In Gage Park, there is a sense of relief that police and prosecutors say they know who murdered a family in their home last February.

There is also continuing sadness, CBS 2's Audrina Bigos reports.

"Everybody has been watching the news, checking everything to see if they found anything that would lead to justice," neighbor Lupita Zoquiapa says.

Three generations of a family were murdered three months ago. Thursday's announcement that two suspects have been arrested was good news – up to a point. Some say they feel safer.

"Now that someone is going to pay for what they've done we can all be at ease a little bit better," Joyce Saunders says.

Crosses outside the home honor the six family members killed within.

"We're going to keep the family in prayers," Mayra Lopez says.

The most surprising development, to some, is that a relative of the victims is one of the murder suspects.

"What could possibly have happened for them to do something like that to their own family and to the kids, especially the children?" Lopez says.
