11 Wounded In Wednesday Shootings Across Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least 11 people were shot on Chicago's South and West sides Wednesday.

Most recently, a 48-year-old man was shot in the Back of the Yards.

He was standing with a female in the gangway of a residence in the 700 block of West 48th Place about 8:50 p.m. when another male walked up and shot him in the abdomen, police said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

a 17-year-old boy was shot in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

The teen was shot about 6:35 p.m. in 7600 block of South Sangamon, according to preliminary information from police. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition had stabilized.

A 21-year-old man collapsed on a porch about 5:47 p.m. in the 200 block of South Pulaski after he was shot several times, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

A 17-year-old boy was walking in Jackie Robinson Park in the 10500 block of South Morgan at 4:22 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, according to police. He was shot in the right leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition was stabilized, police said.

About 1:45 p.m., a 25-year-old was shot in the 5900 block of South Ashland, police said. He took himself to Holy Cross Hospital and was listed in good condition, according to Chicago Police.

A 24-year-old man was standing at 1:10 p.m. in the 600 block of East Marquette when someone emerged from the alley and fired shots, according to police. He was shot in the right thigh and taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital.

An 18-year-old man was shot Wednesday morning in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

He was standing with a group at 101st and Wentworth at 11:18 a.m. when a gold car drove up and a male suspect got out and fired shots, according to police.

The shooter got back into the car and drove off after the shooting.

The 18-year-old was struck in the right ankle, and was taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

A police source said the victim is a documented gang member and has a warrant out for his arrest for unlawful use of a weapon.

About 10:21 a.m., a 26-year-old in the 1200 block of North Lockwood, according to police.

He was shot in the leg and buttocks and was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, police said.

A 39-year-old man was driving in the 7500 block of South Chappel about 4:10 a.m. when another male fired shots in his direction, according to police.

The man suffered a graze wound to the back, jumped out of his vehicle and ran more than four blocks to Jackson Park Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, police said. The shooter was described as a black male wearing a baseball hat and a white shirt.

Two hours earlier, two people were shot in Greater Grand Crossing.

The shooting happened about 2 a.m. in the 6400 block of South King Drive, according to police.

A 30-year-old woman was shot in the back and taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. A 28-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the chest and was taken in good condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Minutes earlier, a 25-year-old was grazed by a bullet on her head as she was sitting in a vehicle in the 500 block of North Kedzie, police said.

She later showed up at Norwegian American Hospital, where she was listed in good condition, police said. The woman was not cooperating with investigators.
