63-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot In Asburn; 12 Others Hurt In Gun Violence Thursday

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 63-year-old man was shot and killed and at least 12 other people were wounded in shootings Thursday across Chicago.

The 63-year-old was sitting in the passenger seat of a parked vehicle at 5:26 p.m. in the 2800 block of West 84th Place in the Ashburn neighborhood when a red vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot in the chest and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The most recent nonfatal shooting occurred about 11:40 p.m. in Englewood.

A 31-year-old man was standing outside in the 6300 block of South Parnell about 11:40 p.m. when a black sedan pulled up and someone inside shot him in the abdomen, leg and arm, police said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.
