Scattered Storms Tuesday Evening, Severe Storms More Likely Wednesday

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago will feel the heat and humidity Tuesday morning, before showers and thunderstorms move through in the evening, and then even stronger storms arrive on Wednesday.

Scattered thunderstorms overnight brought some torrential downpours far southwest of the Chicago area,

More storms will continue firing up over the next day or two, but Tuesday brings only a marginal risk of severe weather.

The morning started off mild, with temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s. It will get up into the low to mid 80s by the afternoon. More scattered storms will move through around 5 p.m., and stronger storms should develop late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

With more heat and humidity on Wednesday, severe storms could quickly develop. According to the National Weather Service, there is an enhanced risk of severe storms for most of the Chicago area and northwest Indiana on Wednesday.

The end of the week should be calm and mild, with highs in the upper 70s on Thursday and Friday, and mostly clear conditions. Saturday will be slightly warmer, with a high near 80.

Father's Day should be a hot one, with a high around 87.
