Derrick Rose Called His Knicks One Of The NBA's 'Super Teams'

(CBS) Derrick Rose's quizzical quotes have crashed onto the New York scene now as well.

After raising eyebrows among Bulls fans with his words during eight-year tenure in Chicago, Rose has now authored a gem regarding the Knicks team that he'll be playing for. Asked during an interview with NBA.com what the expectations are for these revamped Knicks, Rose put New York in the same breath as the 73-win Golden State Warriors as one of the NBA's "super teams."

"They're high," Rose told NBA.com of the expectations for the Knicks. "I mean, with these teams right now, they're saying us and Golden State are the super teams, and they're trying not to build that many super teams, and Adam Silver came out with the statement and this and that. And the expectations I think of us, we just want to win. Talking to Melo and all the guys who've been around. You've got Brandon who just signed for one year, he's got to show why he's there. I've got to show why I'm there. Joakim has to show why he's there. Everybody's trying to prove themselves."

Rose and former Bulls big man Joakim Noah both joined the Knicks in the offseason, forming a core around star forward Carmelo Anthony and young, budding big man Kristaps Porzingis. New York also signed shooting guard Courtney Lee and point guard Brandon Jennings to back up Rose.

The Knicks went 32-50 last season.
