Chicago-Based Dating App Adds 'PokéDates'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Project Fixup already gives its users themed dating options like Divvy dates, Coffee Shop Fixup, and Craft Brew meetups.

It recently added PokéDates based on the popular new game Pokémon Go.

"We try to give people a new experience as well. When you sign up, you can pick a theme for your date. So we thought combining this technology that is already bringing people together in the real world, we can provide for a really fun date for someone with someone they have more in common with than Pokémon Go," said Project Fixup's chief fixup officer, Dank Korenevsky.

Korenevsky says they've had a major increase in new signups since they've launched the new option to their online matchmaking service.

"It's been a bit overwhelming. We expected it to be popular and get a good response but it's been much bigger than we could've expected. Now we're moving quickly to expand to new markets and try to make sure everyone interested in PokéDates can go on PokéDates."

PokéDates matches Pokemon Go players who want to fall in love and play the game. Since launching July 6, Pokémon Go has become the most downloaded smartphone app.

Project Fixup has prospective daters fill out online profiles before comparing their answers and matching couples.

Project Fixup offers the first PokéDate for free and after that meeting a new fellow trainer will cost you $20.
