Lollapalooza Fans Warned About Ticket Scams

CHICAGO (CBS) -- One of the biggest events of the summer, Lollapalooza, kicks of Thursday and people are scrambling for their chance to get into the four-day concert

But some people won't be going after buying fake tickets.

The biggest takeaway in all of this: buyer beware, CBS 2's Charlie De Mar reports.

With hundreds of thousands of people coming to Grant Park this weekend to enjoy the festival, there are also plenty of others looking to take advantage and make a quick buck.

"I wanted to buy the tickets and surprise my wife since she's never been to Lollapalooza before," said Quasar Hamirani.

He turned to Craigslist to buy his tickets and paid $300.

"I had a feeling they were fake," he said.

He got them checked out at the Lolla ticket office Tuesday, fearing the worst.

His fears were realized: His tickets were bogus.

Other fans are buying from a licensed broker, Steve Buzil, of Sit Close Tickets.

"Do not meet these people off of Craigslist," Buzil said. "You don't go out and meet these people who you don't know from anywhere. It's just not going to happen and you are bound to get taken advantage of."

Hamirani's fakes look just like the real thing. He took a chance and lost.

"I tried to surprise my wife and I failed at it," he said.
