A Special Olympic Event At JCC Camp Chi
The Special Olympics came to JCC Camp Chi to host an incredible event that celebrated competition, sportsmanship and inclusion.
A total 74 athletes competed in the games—a mix of campers with disabilities playing alongside their typically developing peers.
The event called, The Road to Chi, included soccer, kick-ball, tug-o-war, a bean bag toss and more.
As the world gets ready for the Summer Olympics in Rio, the Special Olympics wanted to bring a competitive, fierce, fun, inclusive experience to a camp.
They worked with the Foundation for Jewish Camp and together, selected Camp Chi because for countless summers Camp Chi has been open and accessible to campers of all abilities. Campers with disabilities go to camp, play sports and enjoy activities alongside their typically developing peers.
