Woman Dead, Man Hurt In Uptown Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman was fatally shot on Wednesday afternoon in the Uptown neighborhood.

The woman, 57, was walking with a man in the 4500 block on North Sheridan when she was shot in the torso by a gunman passing by in an unidentified vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at Illinois Masonic.

The man, 58, was being treated at the same hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg.

A police source told the Sun-Time that the pair were outside when two sets of rival gang members opened fire at each other. They were not thought to be the intended targets.
