Man Killed, 2 Wounded In Gresham Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was killed and two other people were wounded in a shooting early Thursday in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

The three victims were in a vehicle at 1:55 a.m. in the 8000 block of South Marshfield when someone approached the vehicle at a stop sign and fired at them, according to Chicago Police. The shooter then ran away.

A 45-year-old man was shot in the back and forearm and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the death.

A 33-year-old man was shot in the right forearm and a 59-year-old woman was shot in the hip and back, according to police. They were both taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized.

The crime scene was taped off on West 78th from South Marshfield to South Paulina. A dark-colored Chrysler minivan could be seen on the north side of West 78th with the driver's and passenger's doors open as officers with flashlights and cameras searched inside.
