911 Audio Of Rail Yard Rescue

CHICAGO (CBS) — On Monday, the Chicago Fire Department rescued an injured woman in a rail yard on the South Side.

The problem was finding her.

A 24-year-old woman got lost coming into the city from Oak Park, and the fire department says she hurt herself trying to go through a rail yard near the Back of the Yards.

When she called 911, she didn’t know where she was.

Audio from the call shows how the dispatcher was trying to get help to the woman, Steve Miller reports.

The dispatcher calmly tells the woman to scream for help and wave her arms.

The Chicago Fire Department launched a helicopter and sent an ambulance and fire truck to help find the woman, who was not seriously injured.
