Rabid Cubs Fans Use Players' Numbers To Win $1M Powerball
(CBS) The Cubs' magic number is now 34, but for some rabid Cubs fans in Nebraska, they hit their magic number this week.
Brad and Kim Brunk won $1 million playing Powerball. And every week for the past 19 years, they've played the same numbers -- most belonging to their favorite cubs players:
- 11 for Ron Cey
- 17 for Mark Grace
- 21 for Sammy Sosa
- 23 for Ryne Sandberg
But to change it up with the sports, they picked 32 for Magic Johnson, though Brad tells us he always thought of Milt Pappas.
And what do they think of hitting it rich while the Cubs are on top?
"This going to break the goat, this is going to break Bartman (curse)," he says. "We won the lottery because of the Cubs, therefore the Cubs are going to win the World Series. That's it."
Brad says he'll use some of those winnings to buy plane tickets and catch some Cubs games.
