Windsurfer Rescued Off Coast Of Evanston

(CBS) – A wind-surfer had to be rescued from Lake Michigan Monday off the coast of Evanston after the mast on his surfboard broke, authorities said.

The man using the wind-surfing board said he couldn’t make it back to shore after the mast collapsed.

The U.S. Coast Guard mobilized after a friend of the windsurfer called Evanston police Monday afternoon and said he had received a text for help.

The Coast Guard brought the man and board back to shore.

He was in good condition.
