A Uniquely Chicago Swap: 'Hamilton' For Cubs Tickets

CHICAGO (CBS) – Up until this week, "Hamilton" was the hottest ticket in town.

With the Cubs on the verge of the World Series, that's changing, CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports. Craigslist is seeing some hot big-money, no-trade-back deals the likes of which no lunch room has ever seen.

"It just dawned on me – 'Hey, I got something of value. I should try to trade these,'" Mike Schmidt says.

He was hoping to exchange two "Hamilton" tickets for tickets to Game 6 of the National League Championship Series on Saturday at Wrigley Field. With a 3-2 series lead, the Cubs could clinch their berth in the World Series.

Cubs fan Jim O'Hara has four high-end Hammy's to a December performance. He would be willing to trade them for two World Series tickets, should the Cubs proceed to that contest.

Both "Hamilton" barterers say they've been trying to smooth the idea over with their spouses.

"I have floated the idea," O'Hara says. "She thinks we're still going to 'Hamilton.'"

What do the stars of the Chicago run of "Hamilton" think? They understand.

Miguel Cervantes, who has taken the lead role of Alexander Hamilton from show creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, says: "It's an exciting time in the country right now -- this city right now."

"We're going to be here for a while, I would try to get that World Series ticket," cast member Karen Olivo says. "Is that bad to say?"
