Joe Buck Is Cool With Criticism, Would Like Remind His Job Is To Do A National Broadcast

(CBS) Fox broadcaster Joe Buck has heard your complaints as this MLB postseason has moved along, Cubs fans. You think he's taken an anti-Cubs stance.

With that established, he'd like to remind you: Every team's fan base apparently hates him.

"I hate to break it to you," Buck said in an interview on the Spiegel and Goff Show on Wednesday. "But it's not just Chicago. So don't feel special that way. This is my 19th World Series, so I've been dealing with this since I've been in my mid-20s. It's something my dad (Jack Buck) dealt with back in the early '90s. It's something Vin Scully used to talk about. But it's a different world now with social media and the access people have. You just have to kind of drown it out. It's easy to understand. You've got Pat Hughes. You've got Len Kasper. You got guys that are calling your games all season long and doing it from the Cubs perspective, which is how all teams have it. Then we show up and we're doing the game for both sides. People don't really get that or like it. You kind of have to take it for what it is."

To the Cubs fans who believe the 47-year-old Buck talked too much about Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw in the National League Championship Series, Buck made no apologies.

"It's kind of ironic that I would get trouble for being too anti-Cubs when really the logical ending to this is Emmys for all if the Cubs celebrate their first world championship since 1908," Buck said. "But you can't do it that way. You have to talk about both sides. So yeah, I talked about Clayton Kershaw, because you know why? He was on the mound, and the Cubs were trying to win their first pennant in 71 years, and he was standing in their way. They thumped him, and that's a story. Whether you like it or not, you have to say it that way. And people in L.A., I get messages on Facebook -- 'Why you such a Cub lover? You've been rooting for the Cubs since the first pitch of this.'"
