Duo Brandishing Syringe Linked To Two Suburban Robberies

(CBS) -- Police believe a couple that used a hypodermic needle as a weapon in a Naperville robbery also robbed a store the same way in Niles.

CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports.

Police departments have been notified of this couple, who were caught on security cameras at the scene of both robberies.

On Wednesday, the man and woman walked into a Naperville CVS, brandishing a syringe and stealing over-the-counter drugs.

When confronted, the man indicated the needle contains HIV.

Police now believe they did the same thing in Niles, two days earlier.

In the Niles case, both walked into the store and began stealing over-the-counter meds and pulling out the syringe only when stopped.

The police departments are now in contact. A CVS spokesperson says they have made stores in the market aware of the incidents and are working with police.
