Woman Dies From Injuries In Englewood House Fire

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman died Friday of injuries she suffered in a house fire more than a month before in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

At 4:14 p.m. Oct. 2, emergency crews were sent to a report of a fire at a multi-unit building in the 6000 block of South Throop, according to Chicago Police.

Seven people were reported injured in the fire, police said.

Evughn Ware, 56, was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, authorities said. Others injured in the blaze were treated and released or were treated at the scene.

Ware was pronounced dead at 5:53 p.m. Friday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. An autopsy found she died of thermal injuries suffered in the fire. Her death was ruled an accident.

Police said the cause of the fire was unknown and authorities were still investigating.
