25-Year-Old Man Dies More Than Two Weeks After Skokie Crash

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 25-year-old man has died more than two weeks after he was injured in a crash in north suburban Skokie.

An SUV and a semi tractor-trailer crashed at 3:51 a.m. Nov. 17 in the 4200 block of Golf Road, according to Skokie police. The semi turned over.

Sargon Mirza, 25, who was a passenger in the SUV, died at Evanston Hospital at 5:37 a.m. Monday, according to police.

The driver of the SUV, 29-year-old Stuart S. Ishay, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor DUI on Nov. 17, police said. He also suffered a minor injury in the crash.

Ishay, of Skokie, was also cited for disobeying a stop sign, no valid driver's license and failure to wear a safety belt, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force assisted Skokie police with the investigation. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at (847) 982-5900, or call the crime tip hotline at (847) 933-8477. Tips can also be texted to 847411 by including "Skokie" in the message.
