White Sox Claim OF Willy Garcia Off Waivers From Pirates
(CBS) The White Sox have claimed outfielder Willy Garcia off waivers from the Pirates, they announced Friday.
In a corresponding move, Chicago designated outfielder Jason Coats for assignment.
The 24-year-old Garcia spent all of 2016 at Triple-A, where he hit .245 with six homers and 43 RBIs. He's a career .257 hitter in seven minor league seasons.
The 26-year-old Coats spent the majority of 2016 at Triple-A Charlotte, hitting .330 with 10 homers and 38 RBIs in 78 games.
