(CBS) The Blackhawks have hired Sheldon Brookbank as one of their assistant coaches for AHL Rockford Icehogs, they announced Wednesday afternoon.
The 36-year-old Brookbank played two seasons in Chicago and was a member of the 2013 Blackhawks that won the Stanley Cup. His eight-year NHL career ended in 2014.
Brookbank played six games for the AHL Cleveland Monsters in 2016-17 and is now entering the coaching ranks.
Brookbank’s brother, Wade, is a pro scout for the Blackhawks.
