Bullet Strikes Ambulance While Medics Are In Back

The ambulance, operated by the Chicago Fire Department, was shot about 5:40 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Bishop, according to fire department spokesman Will Knight. The bullet shattered the driver’s-side window, and a large caliber slug was found in the cab portion of the ambulance.

A 30-year-old West Side woman was driving under the influence Sunday night when, according to police, she got behind the wheel of a Chicago Fire Department ambulance that was parked outside a South Side hospital, and took it for a ride, crashing it into some parked cars about a mile away.
