Myron Mason, of the 8600 block of South Kingston, was charged with first-degree murder Wednesday night in the death of Mechelle Lewis. Prosecutors said Mason was angry because he believed the victim gave him a sexually transmitted disease.
Police said the 28-year-old woman killed shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, when her ex-boyfriend walked up and shot her while she was sitting in a parked minivan in the 7200 block of South Bennett Avenue.
The 22-year-old got into an argument with a “known offender” outside in the 7800 block of South Bennett about 9:15 p.m.
