Head coach Charlie Weis and the Kansas athletic department have had a rough week.
After the University Daily Kansan, the school’s student-run newspaper, published a column critical of Weis’ work, a member of the paper was cautioned to tread lightly with Weis this week.
Charlie Weis spent five seasons at the helm of the Notre Dame football program. Over that stretch, the Irish went a combined 35-27. After the 2009 season, Weis was shown the door, and paid a lot to walk away from his alma mater.
After failing under high expectations at Notre Dame, Charlie Weis returned to the NFL and helped the Kansas City Chiefs get to the playoffs. Now he’ll return to college as the new offensive coordinator at Florida.
It is just over a year since Brian Kelly has been named the new head coach at Notre Dame and his winning reputation caught the attention of his team. After a frustrating season, he brings the Irish to the Sun Bowl with a 7-5 record.

At 4-4 Notre Dame is still very capable of making a bowl game. However, if they turn out any more performances like they did against Navy, their bowl chances will start to dwindle.
