Child Sex Assault
A 60-year-old man who’s already spent time in prison for sexual abuse is back behind bars Tuesday after being charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old outside his west suburban home.
Under a negotiated agreement approved Tuesday by Lake County Judge James Booras, Nyasha Mbawa, 20, pleaded guilty to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony that carries a penalty of six to 30 years in prison, or a term of up to life if extended.
Police in west suburban Cicero have charged a youth minister with multiple felonies in a sexual assault case involving at least six children, and authorities believe more victims might be out there.
