Negotiators will take the weekend off in the strike by teachers in Waukegan District 60, and Monday classes have been cancelled.
Talks went so well Friday that the two sides issued a joint statement in which they said “the sides were able to reach tentative agreements on several significant issues.”
Labor negotiations resumed Thursday night following an angry exchange of accusations in the six-day-old strike by teachers in Waukegan District 60 schools.
Gurnee Police arrested 54-year-old Francisco Garcia-Almolda at home, and seized two computer towers, a laptop, several hard drives, flash drives, CDs and DVDs. Police are analyzing them.
A school bus boycott Friday in Waukegan was less than successful, but the protesters’ request may be met this week.
When school District 60 officials announced last October that funds had been lined up for a $37 million overhaul of 12 elementary school buildings, the expressed hope was that construction could start this summer.
