Nearly 100 fast food workers braved the rainy and chilly conditions Thursday to make a point about their pay, and how they’re struggling to survive.
Several protests have been scheduled for Thursday in Chicago, as part of a nationwide demonstration in favor of a higher federal minimum wage.
A couple hundred fast food and retail workers chanted “we can’t survive on $8.25” as they rallied outside and inside the Rock N Roll McDonald’s in the River North neighborhood.
About 15 employees of Whole Foods – and a few dozen supporters – demonstrated outside the Whole Foods store on Halsted Street in Lakeview on Wednesday, calling for better pay, and an end to what they believe is unfair policies.
