Check out the Priceless Things To Do this week in Chicago, week of December 1st-7th.
Ice skating can be a great way to have fun during winter without having to do the full-on snowman building or tobogganing. Chicago has a number of rinks to choose from, both indoor and outdoor, so you won’t let winter drag you down this year.
Ice skating rinks at seven parks across the city will open for the season Friday, with a brand-new eighth rink set to open next month.
Some people get into the holiday spirit by battling the throngs of shoppers for a deal on the day after Thanksgiving, while others get the feeling of the season by lacing up a pair of skates and gliding across a sheet of ice at their local pond, park or skating rink.
Ice skating is not only a great way to exercise, it’s a fun activity. Whether it’s your first time on the ice or you’re a seasoned skater, an ice rink is a great place for an outing with friends, a first date or a family event.
Playing hockey competitively does not have to end once you hit a certain age because all around the Chicago area, there are adult hockey leagues that you and your friends can join.
Whether you are as graceful as Michelle Kwan or a total disaster on skates, ice skating is a time-honored Chicago winter tradition. Plus, it is a ton of fun. Seriously, it is. Your kids will think so too.
