It hasn’t quite been the season that the Blackhawks were expecting. After winning the Stanley Cup and losing many of the key players from a season ago, the Blackhawks are hoping that a long road trip will help build chemistry.
It remains very early in the 2010-11 NHL season but to many Blackhawks fans the defending Stanley Cup Champions have been a disappointment through the teams first 17 games.
Blackhawks defenseman, Niklas Hjalmarsson, was suspended two games for his hit on Jason Pominville on Oct. 11. Today, Pominville was activated after missing nine games with a concussion.
The Blackhawks team, and defense specifically, should get a big boost starting tonight. Brian Campbell will make his season debut tonight in New York.
The Blackhawks have played more games this season that any other team in the NHL. The fatigue is starting to show, and a few days off couldn’t come at a better time.
