Rain Snow Mix
A sloppy, slushy mix gave way to rapid, heavy snow across the Chicago area Friday morning, leaving roads treacherously slick and making for a miserable morning commute.
A morning peppered with bursts of snow is giving way dry, overcast skies and temperatures jumping to 45 degrees.
Conditions more befitting of late October than late December will continue for the rest of the day Thursday, with sunshine and temperatures rising to the mid-40s. But roads could be treacherous again Friday morning.
Unseasonably pleasant temperatures in the 50s will give way Monday afternoon to conditions more typical for this time of year as a cold front comes through.
Temperatures are likely to drop below the freezing mark tonight while clouds sweep over the area and bring precipitation.
There is snow in the forecast for Thursday evening. But it only applies if you live in Northwest Indiana.
