Trauma Center Activists Want 9 Comrades Released After Arrests At University Of Chicago

Activists seeking a trauma center at the University of Chicago Medical Center have demanded the immediate release of nine protesters who were arrested Wednesday night after barricading themselves inside school’s administration building.

City Hall Sit-In Ends Peacefully

Several activists from the group Black Youth Project 100 planned a sit-in on the 5th floor of City Hall for the next 28 hours, because they said a black person is killed by a police officer every 28 hours in the U.S. They said their act of civil disobedience is their duty.

Fast Food Workers Arrested At Minimum Wage Protest Rally

Several protesters were arrested Thursday morning on the South Side, after blocking 87th Street in front of a McDonald’s and a Burger King, as part of a nationwide effort to get fast food restaurants and other businesses to pay workers at least $15 an hour.



Parents Stage Sit-In At Turnaround School

About two dozen parents and students staged a sit-in Friday in Chicago’s Auburn-Gresham neighborhood in hopes of saving Walter Gresham Elementary School.

About 500 students at King College Prep High School in the North Kenwood neighborhood staged a sit-in on Thursday, demanding the new principal; and an end to new rules that limit their access to the school, its labs, tutors, and teachers after normal school hours.
