After a decade in the making, the 606 Trail finally opened this past weekend. I decided to ride the entire trail during the opening weekend and mount a camera on my bike to document the experience.
Some runners have no problem lacing up their shoes and hitting the concrete, no matter where they are. Others, present company included, sometimes need some incentive… Like a beautiful running trail.
The one-mile link through the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Cook County Forest Preserve District’s Turnbull Woods saw immediate and heavy use.
Police said the man, identified only as a 46-year-old white male, suffered injuries. But the cause of the injuries is unknown.
A brand new trail is covering a lot of ground in only a third of a mile — right behind the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park.
