Unleash your inner artist and learn how to paint, sculpt and even dance through the art classes available throughout the Chicago area. Through art classes just for adults, you can explore your artistic side and find a new way to express yourself. Art classes for adults are available at an assortment of price points, so you can likely find something that will fit your budget and your interests. Some of the courses may require the purchase of class materials, so check what you need at the time of registration. If you're eager to sign up for an art class, but aren't quite sure what you want to do, take a look at the programs available through the Chicago Park District. You can put your best foot forward with a ballet class, try your hand at ceramics or learn all about oil painting. Other class options include theater, music and so many more. Classes are held in parks throughout the Chicago Park District, and some of the classes are free. It is advised that participants register in advance for the classes.

When it comes to art techniques, Lillstreet Art Center offers a variety of options for artists. Adults who would like to get into art in a big way can sign up for introductory classes on embroidery, digital photography, glass beadmaking, sewing, bookmaking, etching and enameling, to name a few options. If you have some experience in a particular art form but want to learn more, consider having a look at Lillstreet Art Center's advanced classes. The organization offers a wide variety of dance styles and movement classes from all over the world, including ballet, ballroom, Flamenco, hip-hop, Irish step, Latin, swing, tap and West African dance. In addition to dance classes, Old Town School of Folk Music offers classes in other disciplines for adults, including music, voice and art. Many classes are available at the beginner level, so you can dive in and explore a new art form.

Located in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, Penguin Foot Pottery is a ceramic studio for both new and experienced artists. Adults can sign up for a wheel throwing class just for beginners, with more advanced options available too. Drop-in classes are also on the schedule if you'd prefer classes with a bit more flexibility. If your schedule is more than a little busy, a drop-in art class may be more your speed. That's where Sip and Paint Chicago comes in. Located in Chicago's Jefferson Park neighborhood, the company offers painting classes that are open to the public and include an apron and other class materials. The classes are BYOB, so feel free to bring a bottle of wine to sip during the class; just remember to bring your ID. Sip and Paint also offers private classes, and you can schedule a private party at the venue too.
