Anyone who has endured a winter in Chicago knows why there are so few patios open year round. Thankfully, some Chicago bars have heated patios that can keep you warm during any season. Whether you like to hang out at an upscale or casual local establishment, there is a bar that offers year-round patio comfort to fit your taste. When the weather outside is frightful, you can still have a beer at these five bars with heated patios in Chicago.

If you like to drink on rooftop patios, then Vertigo Sky Lounge is the best bar to be at in Chicago during the cold seasons because it is the only bar with a year-round heated rooftop patio. Located near the Chicago Red Line stop, this bar is on the 26th floor of the Dana Hotel & Spa. It is an upscale lounge that has nightly DJs, serves food until 10 p.m. and offers drinks that range from $6 to $14. At this Chicago bar, you will not only get to enjoy a gas-powered fire pit while hanging out on a rooftop patio, but you will also have an amazing view from 26 floors above the city.

Located in Roscoe Village, The Village Tap has one of the best heated beer gardens in Chicago. While sipping on a beer, you could be watching a game on one of the flat-screen TVs or checking out some local Chicago artist's work that hangs on the walls at the bar. The beer garden patio is open year round, and during the cold months it is heated and enclosed. There is even a food menu containing appetizers, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches and vegan friendly items. A beer costs between $4 and $8.50 and there are 26 different types from which to choose.

The menu at this casual, but slightly upscale bar contains a full beer list, cocktails, breakfast, lunch, dinner and desert. The food is nothing spectacular and you will be hard pressed to find a menu item that is $10 or less. Thankfully, there is not only a great outdoor heated patio, but also amazing daily drink and food specials. On a Monday, you can drink $3 import beers and eat all the 60-cent wings your stomach can handle. This is one of the best bars with a heated patio in Chicago because it is even open in the winter. Yes, it could be snowing outside and you can still enjoy a beer or a signature specialty drink in Lincoln Park while sitting inside a fully enclosed and heated patio.

This Chicago bar has a huge beer garden that is covered with a tent and heated during the cold seasons. The outdoor patio can accommodate up to 150 people, it is open year round and heated during the cold seasons and has rows of tables with chairs. In the patio area, there is even a couple of couches, TVs and dart boards. A beer costs between $3 and $22 and there are only 12 beers on tap. What Fizz lacks in its draft beer selection, it makes up for with the 50 varieties of bottled beer on the menu. At this Lakeview bar with a heated patio, there is also a food menu which contains appetizers, salads, burgers, pizza and sandwiches.

This is a great local establishment with a heated patio in Chicago to stay out late. Fireside is open until 3 a.m. every night, except on Saturday nights when it becomes a Lincoln Square/Edgewater 4 a.m. bar. The multi-level patio is open year round and is both heated and enclosed in the winter. A single beer costs between $3.50 and $16 and the beer menu contains over 75 varieties of import, domestic and local microbrews. There is also a full liquor bar, wine list and Cajun-inspired food menu.
