DCFS Probes Death Of Baby Found Under Car Seat

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police and the state are investigating the death of a 3-month-old west suburban girl found under a car seat in a home in the Northwest Side Logan Square neighborhood on Sunday.

Eden Milarski of Glendale Heights was pronounced dead at Children's Memorial Hospital at 9:02 a.m. Monday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said. Eden was found unresponsive on the floor of a home at 2523 N. Francisco Ave. under a car seat, a medical examiner's spokesman said.

An ambulance was called to the home at 5:57 p.m. Sunday, where emergency crews found Eden unresponsive, police said.

Grand Central Area detectives are conducting a death investigation and the state Dept. of Children and Family Services is also investigating.

"DCFS is investigating allegations of abuse and neglect against both the mother and father in this family," spokesman Kendall Marlowe said Tuesday. "The one other child in this family has been placed in the care of a relative," he said.

DCFS has had no prior contact with the family.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
