Woman Found Shot, Wounded In Evanston

EVANSTON, Ill. (CBS) - Police are releasing few details about the shooting of 27-year-old woman in Evanston Monday night.

At about 11:15 p.m., Evanston police responded to a report of a person shot at 1725 Dodge Ave., a release from police said. The victim, an Evanston resident, was found lying on the driveway.

The woman had suffered a single gunshot wound to her midsection, the release said. Police were not releasing information about her condition as of 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, but the investigation is being treated was an aggravated battery, according to to Cmdr. Tom Guenther.

He would not say whether the victim was a resident of the Dodge Avenue address, nor if police had any suspects.

No arrests had been made as of early Tuesday afternoon, and police are conducting interviews, collecting evidence and following leads, the release said.

The scene of the crime is just north of Church Street and Evanston Township High School. Dodge Avenue is the Evanston extension of Chicago's California Avenue.
