Autopsy: Woman Hit By 'L' Train Committed Suicide

CHICAGO (CBS) - An autopsy has confirmed that a woman fatally struck by a CTA Red Line train earlier this week committed suicide.

Police and fire personnel were notified on Tuesday morning just after 11 a.m. of a person hit by a train near the Berwyn station, in the Edgewater neighborhood.

Fire crews removed Jamie Thelen, 33, from the tracks and took her to Weiss Memorial Hospital.

Thelen, of the 800 block of West Diversey Parkway, was dead on the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A Wednesday autopsy found she died of multiple injuries from being struck by the train and ruled her death a suicide, according to the medical examiner's office.

Power was shut off to the tracks at the Berwyn station and shuttle buses transported passengers between the Bryn Mawr and Argyle stops for about two hours, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.
