Vandals Hit Northern Illinois Veterans Memorial
The damage is noticed at this year's Veterans Day observance.
KIRKLAND, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say parts of the Northern Illinois Veterans Memorial have been vandalized with some portions broken off and others tagged with graffiti.
Attendees at a Veterans Day observance on Thursday noted the vandalism. The problems included torn off etchings, panels that had been pulled off and damaged marble.
The memorial is located in Kirkland in rural DeKalb County. It was constructed two decades ago.
Police say there have been ongoing problems with vandalism.
