Worker Pinned Between Truck And Front-End Loader

OAK PARK (CBS) -- A worker on a leaf removal crew was injured Tuesday when he was pinned between a pickup truck and a front-end loader in Oak Park.

The Waste Management employee was working on the 1000 block of South Clinton Street in Oak Park at about 9 a.m. Tuesday when he got out of his pickup truck to talk with a co-worker, according to Oak Park Fire Chief Kevin Wiley.

A Bobcat front-end loader was scooping up leaves nearby to dump them in a garbage truck at the time.

"The Bobcat backed up for a better angle on the leaves and the guy got pinned against the side of the pickup and the rear of the Bobcat," Wiley said.

The worker, in his 30s, was conscious and talking with paramedics during treatment. Wiley did not know the extent of the his injuries, but said, "He was in a lot of pain."

Paramedics took the man to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Police taped off the street while officials waited for a representative from OSHA to arrive.
