The book was created from over 50,000 photos submitted to the website, capturemychicago.com. Participants helped shape the book by voting on the photographs they thought were the best.

And this being Chicago, we voted early and often--over 2.4 million times actually.

The cover shot, a stunning black-and-white shot of "The Bean"--was taken the Kenneth Steele. The grand prize--which goes to the highest scoring photo in the contest--went to Critter Rettirc for his brilliant shot of fireworks over the Chicago River.
