Red Line Trains Delayed, Diverted

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The CTA's Red Line trains have been diverted to the elevated tracks between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown Tuesday morning because of some sort of disturbance on the line.

According to a system alert on the CTA's website, Red Line trains have been diverted to the elevated tracks between the two stops. The Red Line descends into the subway about six blocks south of Fullerton, and reemerges several blocks north of Cermak.

According to dispatch reports, police and fire crews were investigating reports of smoke in the subway at Roosevelt and State about 8:30 a.m. and power has been shut off to the subway tracks in that area.
