One Dead, Two Injured After Shooting On South Side Street

CHICAGO (STMW)-- One person was killed and two others were injured when someone got out of a car and fired shots at them in the middle of a South Side intersection Friday afternoon.

Shots were fired just before 5 p.m. in the 800 block of East 46th Street, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.

One person was dead at the scene, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.

The person has been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Quintin Turner, between ages 17-19. He was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center at 5:45 p.m and apparently suffered multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner's office said.

Another person was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in "stable" but serious condition, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said. A third was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Police said one person was fatally shot, while a 20-year-old man was shot in the ankle and leg. Another man suffered a broken leg after being shot.

A vehicle pulled up, a man got out and fired shots at the three, police said. The man then got back into the vehicle, which then fled.

The shooting happened in the middle of the street between a post office and fire station, Rosado said.

The circumstances remained unclear late Friday night.
