Alert Issued For Missing NW Side Woman

CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are asking for the public's help in finding a 47-year-old Far Northwest Side woman who suffers from anxiety and depression.

Najat Lazim was last heard from on Friday afternoon, according to an alert from Grand Central Area detectives. She left her home on the 8500 block of West Winnemac sometime after 1 p.m., the alert said.

Since nobody was present when she left home, there is no accurate description of the clothing she was wearing, but her family told police she usually wears dark or black clothing and always has a black head scarf.

Lazim only speaks Arabic and suffers from anxiety and depression, police said. According to her family she took no money or identification and has no friends or other family in the Chicago area.

She is 5-foot-4 and about 160 pounds, with brown eyes and gray hair, the alert said.

Anyone who has information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Grand Central Area Special Victims Unit detectives, at (312) 746-6399.
