Five People Injured In Traffic Accident

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Five people were injured, three critically, Wednesday night during a traffic crash in the Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

At 10:15 p.m., five people were injured during a two-vehicle crash in the 4400 block of West Wilcox Street, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight said.

Two people were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and one person was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, all in critical condition, Knight said.

Two others were taken with minor injuries to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center. Genders and ages of the victims were not immediately available.

An EMS Plan 1, which automatically sends at least five ambulances to the scene, was secured at 11 p.m., Knight said.
