White Sox Won't Face Tigers' Inge

CHICAGO (CBS) The Tigers announced Friday that third baseman Brandon Inge has been placed on the 15-day disabled due to mononucleosis.

The team called up catcher Omir Santos from Triple-A Toledo in advance of their three game series against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. He will serve as a third catcher during the weekend, but has not played since May 26 due to injury.

Inge reportedly has been feeling symptoms of mono for a few weeks now, but was trying to play through it. He is only batting .211 with one home run and 12 RBI this season.

The Tigers will also be without former White Sox outfielder Magglio Ordonez who has not played since May 10 because of an ankle injury. Ordonez is on a rehab assignment with Toledo and the Tigers hope he will make a return Monday.
