Jacob Nodarse Pleads Guilty In Murder Of Darien Family

WHEATON (CBS) -- A Countryside man Tuesday entered a plea of guilty but mentally ill to a 2010 triple murder in Darien, and has agreed to testify against the man accused of commissioning the crime.

Prosecutors have agreed to seek the minimum sentence against 25-year-old Jacob Nodarse, who is accused of breaking a living room window and gaining access to the home of Jeffrey and Lori Kramer, and of fatally shooting the Kramers and their 20-year-old son, Michael.

Nodarse allegedly committed the murders at the direction of a 29-year-old friend, Johnny Borizov, of Willow Springs, who was involved in a custody dispute with the Kramers' daughter, Angela.

Angela Kramer avoided being shot by hiding in a closet. Another Kramer son, Anthony, and Michael Kramer's girlfriend escaped through windows.

Prosecutors declined comment after the plea was entered before DuPage County Judge Daniel Guerin; a spokesman for DuPage County State's Attorney Bob Berlin said they did so because Nodarse will now be a witness.

Although Borizov did not accompany Nodarse to the Kramer home, he faces charges of murder, solicitation to commit murder, conspiracy to commit murder and home invasion.

No date has been set for Nodarse's sentencing; state's attorney's office spokesman Paul Darrah said sentencing would await the completion of the Borizov trial. Nodarse faces a sentence of 25-years to life on the single charge of murder, with an additional 20 years tacked on because of the use of a gun. He remains at the DuPage County Jail, pending sentencing.

Borizov is being held without bond. He next appears before Judge Guerin Oct. 19.
