DCFS Investigating Death Of Infant In NW Suburb
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (STMW) - The state is investigating the Wednesday morning death of a Hoffman Estates infant at her northwest suburban home.
Jayda Northern, 3 months old, became unresponsive in her home in the 600 block of Bode Road in Hoffman Estates and was pronounced dead at 4:08 a.m. at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services are investigating an allegation of neglect against the girls mother, DCFS spokesman Kendall Marlowe said. The agency has not had any prior investigation of the family and there are no other children in the home.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, the medical examiner's office said.
Hoffman Estates police are investigating.
