3 Women Wounded By Shotgun Fire In Calumet Heights

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three women are recovering after being wounded by shotgun fire in the South Side's Calumet Heights neighborhood Monday evening.

Police say a man with a shotgun came out of an alley and opened fire at 93rd Street and Jeffery Avenue around 6 p.m. Monday.

Eva Spencer, 49, was shot in the arm and thigh, and a 63-year-old woman was shot in the leg, police said. Both were taken in stable condition to Advocate Trinity Hospital.

A 66-year-old woman was also shot, but refused medical treatment, police said.

Spencer tells the Chicago Tribune she believes the man who shot her was the same one who burglarized her home and stole three TV sets.

Police will not confirm that information.

All three women are expected to recover fully from their injuries.
