Country Club Hills Police Chief Resigns
COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, Ill. (CBS) -- The police chief in south suburban Country Club Hills is giving up her job amid some controversy.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bob Conway reports, Country Club Hills Mayor Dwight Welch said Monday that negotiations were underway to clear the way for the resignation of police Chief Regina Evans.

She has been head of the department for about two years, but on disability leave since August.
Welch says Evans gave no specific reason for her decision, but it was earlier reported is that the Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office is suing a nonprofit group run by Evans over how its handling of state job training grant worth more than $500,000.
Most recently, Evans came under fire from city officials for overseeing a part-time police program where 10 part-time police officers were hired last year. A SouthtownStar report about the officers revealed that many of the part-time officers had questionable backgrounds, and a city report on the program showed the officers weren't qualified to do police work. They since have been ordered to turn in their guns and badges.
Former police Chief William Brown is taking over the post again.
