Report: Talks Of Compensation For Epstein To Begin Today
(CBS) By all accounts, the Theo Epstein to the Cubs deal is done, but when and for what is still uncertain.
According to a report from WEEI radio in Boston, talks of compensation for Epstein between the Cubs and Reds were set to begin Thursdays.
With Epstein all but out the door in Boston, reports also indicate that Ben Cherington, Epstein's top assistant for the last three seasons, could be named GM of the Red Sox as early as today.
The Boston Herald reported that Cherington, who joined the Red Sox as an intern in 1997 and was hired full-time in 1999, is the favorite to succeed Epstein.
