Kasper: New-Look Cubs Coming Soon

(WSCR) This will be a Cubs team run like you've never seen one run before.

High-profile, big-money free agents will most likely be a thing of the past. Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer have a different style.

Rather than spending hundreds of millions on aging free agents, they will draft and develop their own players en route to the Cubs first World Series title in over 100 years.

"This is all a process," Cubs TV play-by-play man Len Kasper told The Boers and Bernstein Show. "This is about drafting the next Prince Fielder, developing the next Prince Fielder, making him an All-Star as a Cub and then when he's a free agent, you re-sign him. I don't think this is about particular players or bringing in high-priced players, it's about the process."

"We tend to think, as normal baseball fans, 'OK, (Albert) Pujols is available. Prince Fielder is available. We've got the money -- let's play for them.' I don't think that's how Jed Hoyer and Theo Epstein think."
